In Path of Exile 2, taking on challenging bosses isn’t just about testing your combat skills—it's also a prime opportunity to score powerful gear and rare rewards. The Crowbell, an optional boss in the first chapter, might not be the toughest opponent you’ll face, but it’s definitely worth fighting for the loot it drops. Here’s everything you need to know about taking down this boss and reaping the rewards.
The Crowbell can be found in the "Hunting Ground" area, deep in the map. To locate it, follow the main road through the forest and enemy camps, then make your way to a straight path. At the end of this path, you’ll encounter a wooden gate leading into the arena. Once you pass through the gate, you’ll enter the circular arena where the battle with Crowbell begins.
How to Defeat the Crowbell
Crowbell may not have the most complex mechanics, but it can still deal significant damage if you're not careful. Here's a breakdown of the fight and how to come out victorious.
Stage 1: Melee Attacks and Positioning
In the first stage, Crowbell will focus on heavy melee attacks with a small attack range but high damage output. Your best bet is to stay behind or to the side of the boss, rolling to avoid incoming hits. The arena is fairly large, so make sure to keep your distance when possible, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
Stage 2: Shrinking Arena and Shockwaves
As Crowbell’s health drops, the battle area will shrink, making it harder to maneuver. The boss will continue its melee attacks, but now with less space to avoid them. Once Crowbell’s health reaches 50%, it will slam the ground and release shockwaves. Be ready to dodge or roll to avoid these damaging waves.
Stage 3: The Bell and Final Onslaught
When Crowbell’s health gets even lower, it will grab the bell and break through a gate into the final phase of the fight. This is when things get trickier. Crowbell will use the bell to launch long-range attacks, dealing massive damage. Though its movement is slower, the bell swings hit hard. Time your dodges carefully, and look for openings between bell swings to deal damage. Keep rolling, stay behind it, and keep up the pressure until the boss is defeated.
Defeating Crowbell isn’t just a test of skill—it’s also a great way to stock up on rewards. When you take down this boss, you'll receive gold coins, equipment, and the coveted Book of Specialization. This book grants passive skill points for two weapon sets, making it a valuable item to improve your combat performance.
Once you’ve obtained the Book of Specialization, you won’t get another one on subsequent kills. However, you can still earn gold coins and equipment each time you defeat Crowbell after the map resets. This system ensures that players don’t farm the same boss repeatedly for excessive rewards, keeping the game balanced.
